DI Global Finals

In the spring, after months of preparation, each region of each affiliate holds a competition to select the best teams for each level of each challenge. The winning teams are then eligible to compete at the affiliate-level competition, which is held a few weeks after the regional competition, differing between affiliates and regions. In May of each year, the Global Finals are held. This is the final competition level and is attended by those teams that advance beyond the affiliate level. At each competition, a team is required to perform two tasks. First, the team performs their eight minute solution to their long-term challenge. Second, the team is required to complete an Instant Challenge, an improvised performance.

One of the fun aspects of attending Destination Imagination Global Finals is trading pins with people from all around the world. During Global Finals, team members may engage in pin trading with kids, team managers, officials, parents, and others. Trading must be done in a fair and honest manner, and must occur entirely without the exchange of money. In addition to collecting pins from different states and countries, this Challenge requires the team members to have fun and meet new people.

Another activity of the Global Finals is The Really Big Duct Tape Thing (TRBDTT). The purpose of this activity is to build the largest duct tape wall/picture/frame etc. This activity takes place next to the Humanities Building, the Instant Challenge Site.

Here is another way of having fun at the Global Finals time: Out-of-the-Box Costume Ball! A live band, dancing and a great time to be had by all! This party is free to all Global Finals participants and it is open to all ages. So come to impress and Improvise a Cool DIsguise!

 DI invites the participants to join a party for a celebration DI style! It’s a night to celebrate the accomplishments at Global Finals and a chance to hang out with the new friends. This party is prepared for the participants when they walk out of the Awards Ceremony. Once there, they enjoy great music, dancing, food and entertainment. There is a separate party planned with each age division in mind.
